My name is Rebecca Spicer and I completed
Chiropractic at Macquarie University in 2004. I was inspired to become a healing practitioner because of an event during my work experience in year 10. I was observing a local chiropractor and he treated a baby who was not feeding and was due to be hospitalised that afternoon. The chiropractor did this funny thing inside the patient’s mouth (which I now know is a cranial adjustment). The baby started feeding immediately and subsequently did not have to go to hospital. From that day on I have wanted to be a chiropractor. This experience also lead to a keen interest in paediatric chiropractic (an area that I specialise in). I’ve chosen this path because the changes that I can make in a person’s life are remarkable and it is wonderful to be able to help others everyday. I am grateful that I chose this profession because I love coming to work and promoting the chiropractic message.
I also chose to specialise in NAET, which helps allergy sufferers become more resilient. I choose this specialty because I suffered with hay fever for most of my life. I experienced red eyes, an itching nose and throat and fevers for 3 months of the year. I was taking antihistamines, which eventually stopped working and I also developed stomach problems. Because I have knowledge of chiropractic philosophy, I knew that there had to be something more effective than taking drugs to mask the symptoms. Since being treated with chiropractic I have not taken antihistamines for five years and I no longer have stomach problems. Specific chiropractic techniques can help with all sorts of issues (from behavioural problems to skin rashes).
I chose to work in this community because of its family and community values. As a chiropractor who lives and works in the area, I feel very supported and appreciated by the community. This clinic is unique because it offers a wholisitc approach to health care rather than using a band aid fix. We help people to reach optimum health using a structural, chemical and emotional approach to healing. I am committed to personalising your chiropractic care program and that I will assist you to make a difference in your life.
On a personal note – I was born in Bendigo, Victoria. I am one of four girls and we are all health professionals. I have two beagles named Bronte and Dudley and I enjoy cooking, travelling and socialising with friends.
