Chiropractic combines science, philosophy and art into a physical therapy that enhances health.
Your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism
– chiropractors refer to this ability as innate intelligence. The body is controlled and regulated by the brain, spinal cord and nerves, which communicate to every cell of the body, including the muscle, skin, and organ cells.
The vertebrae, which provide bony protection for the spinal cord and nervous system, can become misaligned, or subluxated, causing stress to the nervous system. If left for too long, various symptoms can arise.
Chiropractors reduce interference to the nervous system by delivering specific chiropractic adjustments to the spine or peripheral joints at the subluxation. The symptoms are consequently reduced and the body is allowed to function normally.
Chiropractors look at the human body as a complete system, rather than separate parts or systems – which is one of the main differences between chiropractic and the traditional medical model.
